ADSORPTION OF 4-CHLORPHENOL BY BROWN COAL ACTIVATED BY POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE

نویسندگان

چکیده

The purpose of work is to evaluate the 4-chlorophenol (CP) adsorption capacity brown coal activated carbons (ACs) prepared at different temperature KOH activation. ACs were obtained in three stages: 1) impregnation with a solution, 2) heating (4 deg/min) argon given t (400-800°C) and exposure for 1 h, 3) cooling, washing from KOH, drying. samples are designated as AC(t). Based on N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, total pore volume (Vt, cm3/g) specific surface area (S, m2/g) determined. measured 25°?, CP concentration ?700 mg/L, ?C dosage – g/L.
alkaline activation was found be key factor forming porosity ability adsorb CP. maximum (ACP(m), mg/g) increases 6.6 times up 307 mg/g AC(800) having S=1142 m2/g. (ACP(S) = ACP(m)/S, mg/m2) sharply decreases sample range AC(400) AC(550) weakly depends 550-800°C. kinetics best described by pseudo-second order model. rate determining stage interaction molecules AC surface. isotherms Langmuir model.
dependence ACP(m) S can approximated linear equations that probably correspond regions adsorbtion centers (AdCs). first (S?370 characterized small increment (kS=0.103 mg/m2), but significant (16.4 times) decrease ACP(S). In second region (S=370-770 m2/g, t=550-750°C), 10 more (kS=0.985 third (S?770 t?750°C) increase smallest (kS=0.067 mg/m2). thermoinitiated formation AdCs assumed not proportional area, their chemical structure reactivity determined temperature.

Kinetics, equilibrium, and thermodynamics investigation on the adsorption of lead(II) by coal-based activated carbon

The goal of this research is to investigate the feasibility of using activated coal-based activated carbon (CBAC) to adsorb Pb(II) from aqueous solutions through batch tests. Effects of contact time, pH, temperature and initial Pb(II) concentration on the Pb(II) adsorption were examined. The Pb(II) adsorption is strongly dependent on pH, but insensitive to temperature. The best pH for Pb(II) re...
